14q2-macbookair-13-main
The MacBook Air with 13.3-inch screen gives you up to 12 hours of battery life (view larger).

This 13.3-inch model of the MacBook Air (MD760LL/B) sports up to 12 hours of battery life, a 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 dual-core processor (with a Turbo Boost of up to 2.7 GHz), 128 GB of flash memory storage, and 4 GB of RAM (see full specifications below). It also includes both a high-speed Thunderbolt port and two USB 3 ports, enabling you to easily connect to external displays and a wide variety of high performance peripherals.

The MacBook Air is powered by OS X Mavericks, the world's most advanced operating system and built to bring out the best in your Mac. And the MacBook Air comes pre-loaded with the latest version of the iLife software suite (iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand) as well as the iWork productivity suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote).

Up to 12 Hours of Battery Life

Power through your whole work day with the 13-inch MacBook Air, which delivers up to 12 hours of battery life — more time power for word processing, presentations, email, and more. The increase is due to a larger battery (thanks to the compact all-flash storage in the MacBook Air) and the new power-efficient Intel Core processor architecture. Put the MacBook Air to sleep for more than 3 hours, and it enters standby mode to conserve battery life for up to 30 days.

The MacBook Air — available in 11.6-inch and 13-inch models (view larger).

802.11ac: The New Definition of Fast

The MacBook Air supports ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi. When connected to an 802.11ac base station — including the new AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule — wireless performance is up to three times faster than with the previous generation of MacBook Air. And your Wi-Fi range improves as well.

Flash Memory Storage

By replacing the standard spinning hard drive typically found in laptops (as well as desktop PCs) with flash memory, the MacBook Air delivers an almost instantaneous boot-up when you open the display, as well as faster application launches and snappier overall performance. Additionally, Apple has shed the enclosure that typically surrounds flash memory (usually about the same size as a standard hard drive), thus giving it a smaller footprint and helping to decrease the size of the MacBook Air.

Fourth-Generation Intel Core i5 Dual-Core Processing

The ultra-efficient architecture of the fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor was designed to use less power and still deliver high performance. It has a 1.4 GHz speed, which can dynamically accelerate up to 2.7 GHz to match your workload thanks to updated Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

And with the Intel HD Graphics 5000 processor, you get up to 40 percent faster graphics — performance you'll especially notice with games and other graphics-intensive tasks.

Thunderbolt and USB 3

Delivering an amazing 10 gigabits per second of transfer speeds in both directions, the ultrafast and ultraflexible Thunderbolt port allows you to move data up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800. You can also daisy-chain up to six Thunderbolt-compatible peripherals without using a hub. Thunderbolt also supports DisplayPort for high resolution displays and works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI, and VGA displays.

The MacBook Air also comes with two USB 3 ports, enabling you to connect your external hard drive and transfer large files in seconds instead of minutes with speeds up to 10 times faster than USB 2. And you can connect all your USB-compatible devices, including your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or digital camera.

Integrated HD FaceTime Webcam

You'll be able to easily connect with friends, family, and business colleagues using the MacBook Air's HD 720p FaceTime camera, which is integrated into the thin bezel above the display and features three times the resolution of the previous FaceTime camera. And with Apple's FaceTime application, you're not limited to video chats with other Macs — you can now make video calls to iPhone and iPod touch users.

Amazing Computer - Small Gripes Few Will Mind., September 30, 2014

By SaaaM

This review is from: Apple MacBook Air MD760LL/B 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) (Personal Computers)

What's great about it: The most important things Screen, Keyboard, Trackpad

What's not so great: Unable to expand system memory

I am a longtime Windows based computer user. This however is my first Apple product since they began using Intel chips and the Unix like OSX. I must say what a difference the hardware is top notch in every way there is truly nothing like it from a quality perspective. What I found most amazing Is how great the keyboard and trackpad are. They are both so responsive and precise that even after hours of use I do not have any of the hand and wrist pain I formerly associated with using a laptop for extended periods. The screen is simply amazing clear and bright with good color that can not be found on a Windows laptop without spending almost double the price. Seriously this screen looks better in every way than my Samsung 24" 1080P desktop display. I could keep going on and on so I won't .

The bottom line in my opinion is this. Sure you can make all the arguments about Apple costing so much and I used to be one of those people but you are simply not comparing Apples to Apples when you do. To get a Windows based laptop with similar proportions, PCI flash storage that is twice as quick as a SATA SSD, AC wireless, A 17W Core i5 with Integrated graphics as capable as the HD 5000 in this MacBook, A backlit keyboard and screen this beautiful that will get 9-10 hrs or real use on one battery charge will cost you well over a thousand and in most cases you are talking closer to two grand, so that argument is bunk.

The lack of expandability is however the one weak spot the MacBook suffers from but I must say on 4GB of RAM I have not had any problems even when multi tasking. As far as the flash storage I have done a little searching and found you can in fact upgrade the hard drive to nearly 1 TB and online Mac dedicated resellers like Other World Computing OWC have all the storage upgrade kits you could want. Though I have found that with a combination of cloud storage and my network drives at home the 128GB is manageable. I am however planning an upgrade to 480Gb soon that will cost $299 not so bad for cutting edge storage technology and speeds.

I'd say I personally prefer Mac, but I like Windows too, they both have their pros and cons. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase, loving the MacBook Air.

pros and cons of a work laptop, September 23, 2014

This review is from: Apple MacBook Air MD760LL/B 13.3-Inch Laptop (NEWEST VERSION) (Personal Computers)

Unlike others, I have found that the Mac OS operating system really does have a significant learning curve for me. As an iPhone and iPad user, I expected the transition to a MacBook to be easier. Despite my familiarity with other Apple devices I often feel frustrated by troublesome trackpad gesture problems and a setup that doesn't feel intuitive to me. While the trackpad is very sensitive the gestures make me long for a clear, easy to use mouse. After purchasing the MacBook I actually set it aside for a few busy weeks, finding it easier to get things like taxes done efficiently using my husband's PC or my old Dell. I still feel like we are not quite speaking the same language after several months of use, but I am slowly beginning to feel more comfortable with this system. Clearly, it is a beautifully designed machine with a nice display. At less than 3 pounds the 13 inch feels very portable. It is sleek, thin, and the adjustable backlight helps with visual appeal. I do seem to have some difficulty with typing accurately on the keyboard setup. I have also found that the Air does get quite warm when sitting on your lap, particularly where the battery is located, and battery life seems disappointing. Performance limitations make this less than ideal for serious graphics and photo editing- those users will likely need a Pro or an iMac. For more basic needs this is a sleek, pleasant machine.

Fine for most users. Power users know it's not for them., September 21, 2014

I've been a Mac user for 9 years (the PowerBook G4 days) and I'll still admit that it took me being in a pinch to finally break down and buy one of these. I love opening my computers and upgrading them myself, so any machine that doesn't allow that makes me feel sort of powerless.

You can call me an Apple apologist all you want, but this is absolutely fine as a consumer, entry-level Mac. Yes, it's probably time for them to give you 8gb RAM by default. Yes, they charge way too much to upgrade to 8gb RAM. And yes, it sucks that you can't pop it open and just put some in yourself for half the money.

All those points considered, there's a reason Apple is selling a ton of these, even to the people who can't stop complaining about it. Even I have gripes with this machine, but I still love it. Everyone complaining about RAM either 1) still constantly uses it regardless of their complaints, or 2) paid for the 8GB. Apple is expensive. They always have been. They always will be. I've been hearing people complain about similar things for almost a decade now, and yet Apple continues to sell hardware like hot cakes.

Enough with the same tired old debate; on to the machine itself. You already know that it's sleek, beautiful, and extremely light. Great for hauling around work or school -- simple as that. I cloned the drive from my MacBook Pro onto my new Air, and was up and running quickly (personally, I prefer SuperDuper! for this.). I've pushed it a bit with things like Photoshop, and even Final Cut. It'll get a quick job done, but you will big it down with such actives, and they're best performed on a Pro or above..... Which is why the Pro exists.

This is my satellite machine. I go to school, I do jobs for friends with it, I record multitrack audio, I use it as an impromptu media server w/ my Roku sometimes, and I store most of my archived files at home on my Pro system. Seeing as how I still have a 2007 white MacBook in service as a media server, I suspect this Air will stay in my service in some capacity for at least half a decade.

If you're in a contest to get the most RAM for your money, then don't buy a Mac. If you're going to feel ripped off because your phone camera doesn't have as many MP as everyone else's, don't get an iPhone. I'll admit it. They're not for everyone. But if you've bought into the way Apple does things, you're already invested in an iPhone, and you just want a machine for doing everyday tasks... The Air is absolutely fine. If you're going to be storing massive files and performing heavy tasks, then you need to pony up for a pro or a desktop. Honestly, I love having sort of a "primary" system at home to function as a server, storage tank, and for heavy lifting.

If all that's too expensive or a "rip off", then go get droid and a chrome book. Or maybe a windows phone and one of those 2-in-1 machines. Nobody is stopping you.
